About the Founder
Founded by Nelson Mandela, The Mandela.barbery Co is the result of over a decade of passion, discipline, and self-driven mastery.
Nelson began his barbering journey in Eldoret town in 2013 before relocating to Nairobi in 2015, where he refined his craft and built his brand. He holds a Diploma in Business Administration from Mount Kenya University, bringing strong entrepreneurial structure and vision to the business.
A largely self-taught barber, Nelson honed his skills through online courses, continuous practice, and deep personal commitment to the art of barbering and male grooming. His approach blends technical precision with creativity an influence drawn from his passion for fine art, which he practices part-time.
Beyond the chair, Nelson is deeply invested in a healthy and disciplined lifestyle. He is a gym enthusiast, mountain biking and leisure running participant, and an avid motorcycle adventure rider. These pursuits shape the brand's identity focused, resilient, and purpose-driven.
Trained as a mental health champion, Nelson strongly believes in the barbershop as a safe space for conversation, confidence, and personal well-being.
